Watts News - February 2018

I don’t know about you, but I need a break.  It might only be a few weeks since we got back, but not only has the run of hot nights taken its toll, I played as hard as I could over the summer holiday too.  The sad part is that I can still remember burning the candle at both ends in my youth as meaning going out 4 nights in a row until 3a.m., getting up for work and still having the energy to play sport.  Now not wasting a second is staying up until 11.30p.m., dragging yourself to work and snoozing during all of the ad breaks when you get home. Oh well, at least I have the memories; for now!

As some of you may remember from March last year, I headed up to the Brighter Days Festival in Bright on the Labour Day Weekend in support of www.brighterdays.org.au.  Jay Dee’s has again decided to sponsor the  ‘Cotton Ball Run’ which is a motorbike and classic car convoy from Whittlesea to Bright, named in honour of the DebRA kids who suffer from a very rare skin disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). This is a painful disease where the skin blisters and peels at the slightest touch and sufferers must be wrapped in ‘cotton wool’ to protect their wounds.  There is still no government funding for these families, so in an effort to raise money again, we are having our ‘Pay It Forward Deal’ where we buy raffle tickets in your name to help raise much needed funds.  While we had no winners from the many tickets we purchased last year, the prizes are even better this year, so stock up with Jay-Dee’s in February and possibly win big in March.

Jay-Dee’s Pay it Forward deal:

Anyone who spends $1000 or more with us in February, we will purchase a $100 Raffle ticket on your behalf from the Brighter Days Foundation.  1st prize this year is a 2018 Customised Ford Mustang valued at $75.000. Tickets are also available on request for those who wish to purchase them through us or on the foundation website www.brighterdays.org.au

Joke of the Month

The main attraction of a poorly funded zoo was a very old gorilla who unfortunately dies right before the zoo was due to open in the morning. With great concern that the customers will turn away, the zoo owner offers one of his workers an extra $100 a day to go into the enclosure wearing a gorilla suit until the zoo can afford a new one.  Quickly, the new "gorilla" becomes the most popular craze at the zoo and people from all over start coming to see the "Human-like" gorilla.

About a month in, the craze has started to wear off. So, to get peoples' attention back, he decides to climb over his enclosure and hang from the netting above the lion’s den. A large crowd of people gather watching the spectacle in awe and terror. Suddenly the man loses his grip and falls to the floor of the lion's den. The man starts screaming "HELP!! HELP!!!" Suddenly a lion pounces on him from behind and whispers in his ear, "Shut up right now or you'll get us both fired."

Have a Great Month and don’t forget Brighter Days
